I don't really understand how it didn't get the setgid bit. The
directories I created did get it. The only problem is that I don't
know how to tell darcs to change the umask for the push, so I run
"chmod --recursive g+w" afterwards. (A pull-based setup would maybe be
better, but as costa doesn't have IPv6, it taking data from my desktop
is acrobatic at best. Maybe I should have a "darcs staging area" in my
home on costa: push to that, and then on costa pull from the staging
area to our common location. I'll figure something out.)

No. I created that directory before realising that darcs-buildpackage
would insist on having one repository per package. I'll move to the
same naming scheme as you. Consider it just a "darcs beginner error".
