I am sorry you are having so many troubles. Probably unstable is
broken at this very moment, so that cdebootstrap fails.

Yes, just execute:

sudo update-alternatives --remove-all mpicc

maybe also for mpif77 and similar. BTW, make sure you don't have any
lam nor mpich installed. Just openmpi.
