My questions above still hold and I have two more:

4) the arpack upstream consist of 4 files - arpack96.tar.gz,
parpack96.tar.gz, patch.tar.gz, ppatch.tar.gz, but there should be
just one orig.tar.gz. Should we repackage the 4 packages into one
orig.dfsg.tar.gz?

5) I would like to fix the arpack package to work with slepc, I know
how to do it (my own installation of arpack and parpack works), but I
would like to use your way of doing things in the arpack package - so
how can I compile it? (I know how to fix the problems, but just want
to know what your intentions are).
