Thanks for your patch.  I have already committed similar changes to SVN some
days ago [1] but your patch is more complete.

You should consider joining the DOG (Debian Octave Group).  We are lacking
manpower for all the tasks that need to be done (see, e.g. my recent "State
of the Union" post [2]).
