Yes, I meant more work than either using a plane soname (bad) or 
relaying on the one chosen by the upstream author (not achievable right 
now). But definitely I agree with yours. :-)

I'd be glad to help you with this stuff. You said you wanted to go ahead 
with this, but if can give you any help, please tell me. Meanwhile (this 
next weekend) I want to prepare the libsuitesparse-metis package.
