Since there was no yelling objections, I went ahead and pushed the
commits that I have done locally on my Git repo.  The SVN repo is not yet
removed, so we can easily revert things, if necessary.

You have probably seen the notifications in the commits mailing list.  Here
is the summary:

  * Preparation for new upstream release 3.3.0
  * Update the Vcs-* fields
  * Switch to quilt
  * Bump Standards-Version to 3.8.1 and add README.source
  * Aplly Thomas Viehmann's patch that fixes Bug#526422

I am preparing now the split into individual library packages.  This will
need more polishing and discussion before being uploaded.  I will soon
push the changes such that the other developers can take a look.
