I thought about making these changes for a while as well and came to
the same conclusion as you have.

Missed that because I did the lintian check just before doing the
`dch -r`… won't happen again.

The distribution in debian/NEWS is still wrong, it's now "untable"
because of a typo.  I don't know if this is worth fixing with a
followup upload…
