There should not be a space between (arch-bits=...) and the symbol
name. From dpkg-gensymbols(1):

  Tag  specification comes right before the symbol name (no whitespace
  is allowed in between).

I've just pushed an update to git.  Build log seems fine now at least
on amd64.
