I tried to reproduce this on a armhf porterbox, and everything ran smoothly:
(sid_armhf-dchroot)dktrkranz at harris:~$ uname -a
Linux harris 3.2.0-4-mx5 #1 Debian 3.2.63-2+deb7u1 armv7l GNU/Linux
(sid_armhf-dchroot)dktrkranz at harris:~$ python -c "from gi.repository

Could you please try with version 0.10.2-2?
