   That's how I'll be doing it, likely in the next package.

   That certainly looks interesting (& not just for possible use with
LedgerSMB), and it might be easier to use something like that instead of
trying to patch everywhere in the application that references it.  (Not
sure yet, which might be easier.)  I'll put in an override for the
warnings in the packaging I'm working on now (for 1.3.9) and work on
this later when it's clear that the current packaging is working.
