Given that squid3 in sid (only) is the one rdep of libecap3 and needs an
immediately rebuild as well I don't believe we need another transition.
Anyone know otherwise?

Squid3 also needs a working cppunit. A gcc-5 rebuild / give-back for
that worked for me without problems but I'm confused about why cppunit
is so far down (level 6) on the libstdc++6 transition list of dependencies.
