Binary packages have already moved to the squid* version, so the matter is only about the source package. I don’t see anything blocking the transition as soon as stretch is out. This list is ‘pkg-squid’ related and we can move the repository with ease: just rename the old squid 2.7 repo to squid-old and then move the squid3 to squid.

Otherwise we could attempt a merge between the two.
