Thanks for that, I'll pass it on to upstream.  This test has failed on
multiple architectures in the past, somewhat at random, related to the
exact conditions under which ruby itself was compiled.  I hope your
patch fixes all of that.

Yes, those two were obvious - I already found and fixed them, sent off
a patch, and Kouhei upstream reimplemented my fix in a better way.
