[Pkg-sympa-devel] question systemd after installation 6.1.23~dfsg-2 as Debian package on a Debian GNU/Linux 8 server

Hi Debian Sympa Team,

 

we installed Sympa Version 6.1.23~dfsg-2 as Debian package on a Debian GNU/Linux 8 server.

 

After installing we noticed that there was no systemd-command in postinst-script and that sympa was not enabled (we extpected
something like systemctl enable sympa).

My colleague also didn’t find a systemd-file in the upstream code.
Is that a bug in the current version?

 

After enabling sympa manually it works but after the reboot of the server we see messages in /var/log/daemon.log that show that
initially sympa can’t be started by systemd because the mysql database is not reachable:

 

Jan 22 06:34:05 lists1 sympa.pl[639]: DBI connect('dbname=mysql;host=localhost','root',...) failed: Can't connect to local MySQL
server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2) at /usr/share/sympa/lib/SQLSource.pm line 352.

Jan 22 06:34:06 lists1 sympa.pl[639]: Database sympa defined in sympa.conf has not the right structure or is unreachable. verify
db_xxx parameters in sympa.conf

Jan 22 06:34:06 lists1 systemd[1]: sympa.service: control process exited, code=exited status=1

Jan 22 06:34:06 lists1 systemd[1]: Failed to start SYMPA mailing list manager.

Jan 22 06:34:06 lists1 systemd[1]: Unit sympa.service entered failed state.

 

But when I look in the sympa logs I see that sympa is started one or two seconds later.

 

I suppose that these messages occur because the database is not started before.

When using start-scripts in /etc/init.d we started the database first and the sympa daemon later.

Shouldn‘t this also be the same order in systemd? Should there be an entry like „after mysql“ in /lib/systemd/system/sympa.service?

Or is it ok that we have this messages in /var/log/daemon.log after every reboot ?
