Why not? There are worse packages in there already... :)

One rationale would be that it's received more than a year of unstable
exposure, and it's unlikely to receive more if it stays in sid. More
exposure could be gained by going into testing -- and the RMs will kick
it out before lenny is released if it seems to cause too many problems.
So go for it!
