Hmmm, this makes me nervous. THis is bad. Where does this file come
from? It should be not there?!?!

Please a ls -l /usr/share/texmf/web2c/fmtutil.cnf

Here I have 
	/var/lib/texmf/web2c/fmtutil.cnf
Do you have this file, too?

Please send me BOTH files
	/var/lib/texmf/web2c/fmtutil.cnf
and 
	/usr/share/texmf/web2c/fmtutil.cnf
