During my years as a Debian contributor I was helped by about twenty
different sponsors.  Only two of them were reliable, meaning that they
met these criteria:

 * When asked to do an upload, the sponsor replied within two days
   either to say that he would do it or that he would not do it.
 * After agreeing to do an upload, he did it within two days or
   within the time that he said that it would take.

You probably know whether or not you were one of the two.

Certainly you were better than average.  Average Debian sponsoring
practice is to agree to do the job and then not to do it, then when
pinged to give some excuse and then perhaps to do it or perhaps not.
 Actually that is a good description of average Debian practice _period_.
