[Pkg-uml-devel] Why does linux-uml Conflicts with user-mode-linux?

Hello Manoj,

I just found that I can't install user-mode-linux packages together with
linux-uml ones.
In kernel-package's changelog I read:
,-------------------------------------------
| kernel-package (8.100) unstable; urgency=low
|
| * Strip the uml binary (honoring DEB_BUILD_OPTIONS).
| * Well, we conflict, replace, and provide user-mode-linux -- which has
| problems when we try to install two different kenrl-uml-* packages,
| since they now conflict with each other. Now, we just conflict with
|     user-mode-linux (>= 2.0), which means all kernel-uml-* packages shall
| conflict with real user-mode-linux packages, but not with other
| kernel-uml packages.

`-------------------------------------------

Which problems are are you talking about? Anything that can be solved
(or it already is)?
BTW: removing the appropriate lines fomr Control let linux-uml install
just fine here (but it has some problems due to some missing patch
we instead apply related to the uml_net install path of debian's
uml-utilites).

One more question in order to make a better rootstrap:
I have
# dpkg -c /usr/src/linux-uml-2.6.16um1_2.6.16um1_i386.deb
...
drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2006-05-24 18:41:20 ./usr/lib/uml/modules-2.6.16um1/
-rw-r--r-- root/root 189 2006-05-24 18:41:19 ./usr/lib/uml/modules-2.6.16um1/modules.usbmap
-rw-r--r-- root/root 141 2006-05-24 18:41:19 ./usr/lib/uml/modules-2.6.16um1/modules.inputmap
-rw-r--r-- root/root 90965 2006-05-24 18:41:18 ./usr/lib/uml/modules-2.6.16um1/hostaudio.ko
-rw-r--r-- root/root 152777 2006-05-24 18:41:19 ./usr/lib/uml/modules-2.6.16um1/soundcore.ko
...

Any chance to change modules install path to not kill the usual
directory structure (`uname -r`/kernel/{arch,crypto,...})?
We are doing:
cp -R /usr/lib/uml/modules/* $TARGET/lib/modules
in rootstrap to push all available modules into the root-fs, I did hope
we could catch also linux-uml modules. I didn't even expect the Conflict
outlined above, so this is not currently possible anyway, but still it
would be nice to allow cohexistence.

Thanks
