The "rxvt-unicode" is not the good one either because it looks like urxvt has been compiled with 256 colors support.
So there are 2 problems:
- urxvt must export TERM=rxvt-unicode-256color
- an rxvt-unicode-256color terminfo entry should be installed: either directly by bundling it in the package, or better, indirectly by marking a package dependency on an other package that would provide it (ncurses-term?).
** Summary changed:
- invalid exported TERM value: rxvt-256color instead of rxvt-unicode
+ invalid exported TERM value: rxvt-256color instead of rxvt-unicode-256color

Title:
invalid exported TERM value: rxvt-256color instead of rxvt-unicode-
256color
Status in “rxvt-unicode” package in Ubuntu:
New
Bug description:
The TERM value set by urxvt in Ubuntu 11.04 is "rxvt-256color".
The problem is that this TERM name does not match any terminfo value on the system: no /lib/terminfo/r/rxvt-256color file.
However there is /lib/terminfo/r/rxvt-unicode installed by the ncurses-base package.
This is rxvt-unicode 9.09-3 and ncurses 5.7+20101128-1.
According to support in the #urxvt-unicode IRC channel on Freenode,
the standard value set by the vanilla urxvt is either rxvt-unicode or
rxvt-unicode-256color. Is there a reason why the default value has
been changed?
