for some time now (must be years already), pastetoggle is broken - in
paste mode, the toggle key is simply inserted. one day it simply stopped
working after an upgrade.

:set pastetoggle=<F2>
=> status: INSERT
=> status: INSERT (paste)
=> buffer: <xF2>
