I can no longer reproduce this bug using python2.4-ipython 0.6.13-1 and
vim 6.3.071+1: ipython is able to exec vim (I used "!vim") without
startup issues.
Also manually running a subshell from vim (e.g. :echo system("ls"))
works properly.
I'm thus tagging this bug as unreproducible and I will close it in a
few days.
