Severity: important

suddenly the backspace-key does not delete reliable anymore.
opening a file and trying to delete to left by pressing backspace causes
the cursor only to go to left (if in non-edit-mode) or seems to be
ignored completely (in edit-mode). only text written in the current
session could be deleted with backspace.
this is at least a grave misbehaviour i before only observed in bullying
distributions like SuSE, but i consider it a grave bug as it decreased
the usability a lot!
i tested with vim -u NONE -U NONE and on my console the backspace works
as expected.

Erm, yes... but it's also a vim command.

:help nmap

Will do.
