JFYI

IIRC Italian was one of the "problematic" languages in term of resources
usage. On my laptop (Intel M 1.7GHz, 1 Gb RAM) I'm able to generate the
UTF-8 vim spell file from the corresponding openoffice dictionary in
less than 10 minutes (but, yes with a huge amount of memory used).
