BTW, I don't know if the terminal _announces_ being capable of this
feat, it just happens to work with cat ...

I'm using gnome-terminal 2.14.2-1 with "Luxi Mono" font set to size 9.
Possibly that font does not include the letter in question: how do I
tell? OTOH, Character Map shows a tooltip saying "MPH 2B Damase" when
I right-click on ugaritic characters, so you can try that:
ttf-mph-2b-damase 001.000-3

I have LC_ALL=fi_FI.utf8
