This sort of functionality is generally provided by someone willing to
maintain such a plugin and keep in touch with Bram for getting updated
versions into the Vim distribution (or simply publish it independently
on vim.org).  The gzip/bzip plugin is the only one maintained by Bram.

I'll leave this bug open in case someone would like to step forward and
write such a plugin, but I don't have the time to write and maintain
one.
