These two lines caters for all forms of \ac:

syn region texAcronym           matchgroup=texStatement start="\\ac\%(fi\|[fls]\=p\=\)\*\={"            end="}\|%stopzone\>" contains=@texAcroGroup
syn region texAcronym           matchgroup=texStatement start="\\ac\%(used\|[ls]u\*\=\){"               end="}\|%stopzone\>" contains=@texAcroGroup
