I've been considering moving Vim's packaging to using TopGit (and
quilt-exported patches).  If I get that setup, this would be much easier
to integrate as it would likely just be a separate series file for the
hypothetical vim-gtk-patched (I see no reason to create a -patched for
each variant currently provided and I'd wager vim-gtk is the most
popular variant).

I'll look into this once I work out the higher priority issues I'm
working on.

If this happens, I'd prefer it to take place within the current vim
source package in order to keep the handling for all the Vim binary
packages consistent.

I'd prefer if new people were generally interested in pkg-vim instead of
just focused on pushing a specific agenda. :)
