This is due to 'iskeyword' being set globally in ftplugin/perl.vim.
That bug was fixed[0] almost 4 years ago upstream, but they haven't sent
updates to Bram for even longer.

Getting updated files to Bram has been brought up a couple times on
their tracker, but nothing's happened yet.
