Package: virtualbox-ose-qt
Version: 2.2.2-dfsg-2
Severity: normal
I decided to try out the qt interface for the first time. While installing
it I noticed some things in the package that surprised/confused me.
Basically the package has:
Depends: [...], virtualbox-ose
Replaces: virtualbox-ose
1) Shouldn't the Depends be strongly versioned, i.e (= 2.2.2-dfsg-2)?
2) Depending on and replacing the same package looks, eh, weird.
I assume it only replaces files in _previous_ versions of
virtualbox-ose [1]. If that is the case, wouldn't it make sense
to make that explicit by versioning the Replaces?
Cheers,
FJP
[1] Replacing files in the current version would result in unpredictible
behaviour during package installation and thus be an RC bug.
