[Pkg-virtualbox-devel] Bug#565698: virtualbox-ose: virtualbox refuses to start any virtual machine

Virtualbox refuses to start just any virtual machine.  When I try to
start a VM (in the example below a newly created, empty VM), the
following happens (without opening any window):

    sven at bagheera:~> vboxmanage startvm XP

    Waiting for the remote session to open...
    ERROR: Virtual machine 'XP' has terminated unexpectedly during startup

A bit later a dialog box pops up:

    Title: VirtualBox - Error in supR3HardenedMaininitRuntime

    RTR3Init failed with rc=-1912 (rc=-1912)
    Please install the virtualbox-ose-dkms package and execute
    'modprobe vboxdrv' as root.

The kernel informs

    sven at bagheera:~> dmesg|tail -n 1

The kernel modules are loaded:

As you can see in the system information below that I use an amd64
kernel with a 32-bit userland.

The same problem occurs if I

 * start the VM from the Qt GUI
 * try to start a VM as root
 * use a 32 bit kernel instead of the amd64 one
 * use kernel version 2.6.30 instead of 2.6.32
 * use the precompiled modules packaged with Debian for the 2.6.30
   kernel instead of the dkms ones

Now I ran out of ideas what else to try.  Suggestions?
