Package: virtualbox-ose-qt
Version: 3.2.0-dfsg-1
Severity: normal
Attempting to edit a shared folder's properties when that folder is
being used by the guest results in the following error message:
Failed to create the shared folder $FOLDER (pointing to $DIR) for
the virtual machine $VM.
Could not remove the shared folder '$FOLDER' (VERR_PERMISSION_DENIED)
Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: Console
Interface: IConsole {6375231a-c17c-464b-92cb-ae9e128d71c3}
At that point, the folder is still active, but VirtualBox has lost any
trace of it in the Shared Folders menu. (It will come back the next
time the machine is reopened, though.)
Apparently, VBox handles a shared folders edit by deleting and
re-creating it, which obviously won't work if it's currently in use. I
guess the easiest fix would be to disable editing until the folder is
released.
