The first thing I would do is to make the error message visible, and 
remove the --quiet for the 'addgroup' call.

The other proposition to fix this (with || true appended on the line) 
would only be a hotfix, and not addressing the problem that an older 
installer created a vboxusers group which was no system group and 
thusly perhaps not compatible with this version?
