But did you remove if first? All the time I've seen this problem, a complete
removal and a subsequent re-installation of virtualbox-ose-dkms solved it.

Again, I strongly believe that installing virtualbox-ose-source did not change
anything, this is just coincidence.

The cause is outside the virtualbox packages and thus, yes, I consider it
solved for virtualbox.
