installing debian testing in a VM run by virtualbox

   * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
     ineffective)?

installing first virtualbox and Xorg and then upgrading to testing or first upgrading to testing and then installing the packages both lead to no X11 starting.

i can run xorg on stable (before upgrading)

   * What was the outcome of this action?

startx fails

   * What outcome did you expect instead?

startx starts X
