soooo, if the problem started with another update, I would guess that is not virtualbox related, but rather
xfce or openbox.
Can't you just downgrade some packages and see who/where did create the issue? looking at apt logs shouldn't
be so hard, and would be really helpful.

If you want you can start by downgrading vbox to a 5.0.* version, even if I don't think this is a vbox issue.
