Package: vde2
Version: 2.3.2-4
Severity: wishlist
Currently, when starting vde_switch --daemon, it returns before creating the interface.
That makes scripts using it unnecessarily very awkward to write - you have
to wait for it to appear, but at the same time decide whether something
went wrong.
It would be better if vde_switch --daemon would only return when the
interface is available. There is ample precedence for this behaviour in
daemons that only daemonize when they are bound to their socket or created
other services, so there is a defined way to start them not involving
sleep 1 loops or similar hacks.
