Wine doesn't really support unix paths anymore.  Please try:

wine "c:\program files\microsoft office\office14\winword.exe"

> env WINEPREFIX="/home/charpent/.wine" wine C:\\windows\\command\
> \start.exe /Unix /home/charpent/.wine/dosdevices/c:/users/charpent/Start
> \ Menu/Programs/Microsoft\ Office/Microsoft\ Word\ 2010.lnk

That works because you're using windows style paths.
