apt-cache show ifplugd

It doesn't mention wpa_supplicant though, but its functionality. That's why I 
wrote "with e.g. wpa_supplicant"

I still can't see it as a workaround. It is just one possible and useful way 
to use wpa_supplicant. 

After all, I'm personally fine with the new solution now that Kel revealed the 
option for lowering the timeout.
