I worked on these with siretart in a /msg window, so he was aware of
what I was doing and why.  At the same time I guided him on what other
changes I'd make, and he agreed to make those same changes to the Debian
package.

Thus after a productive few hours we'd made the Debian package identical
to the Ubuntu one anyway.

In general, from this point, I don't see any particular reason for the
Ubuntu package to diverge; other than bug fixes, etc.  Most likely the
majority of work will be done by siretart anyway, who I believe is also
a Debian uploader.

I've said this before, but I don't see why Ubuntu should have to
announce its intent to change a package; we're not Debian, we're a
different distribution.  You never announced your intent to change the
maintainer scripts either, I don't see why something should apply to
Ubuntu and not to Debian.
