[pkg-wpa-devel] What's wrong with the new configuration scheme, IMO

Thanks.

Only time can tell. It really depends on what wifiroamd [not the one that
actually does exist] will actually be capable of when it comes to existence.
By now it is merely a name and a rough estimation of what it should do. At
the time of this writing, discussing the benefits of wifiroamd is not much
different from claiming what great gaming experience Duke Nukem Forever
offers ;-)

(Yes, I know that wifiroamd will probably be around before Duke Forever.)

No. It's about attitude. The packagers have *intentionally* broken every
single setup that was using either the init script
or /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf. That they did not even provide proper
documentation (at first) on how to fix up the mess only made it worse.

There's nothing wrong in developing a new configuration scheme with whatever
in mind. Breaking working setups without need _is_ wrong. (Sorry, I'll only
stop stressing this when it is not an issue anymore...)

From what I have read in the list archive the idea of wifiroamd was only born
afterwards. See here:
