[pkg-wpa-devel] What's wrong with the new configuration scheme, IMO

Hi,

I don't personally think what Felix it trying to explain is 'noise'. A
completely agree with him.

Additionally to breaking working setups, the new configuration scheme
does not work with what I understand about wifi (and other people seem
to understand it as I have) : associating to an access point is about
like plugging the cable, so ifup should come after. The new setup
mixes up unrelated network layers in /e/n/i additionnaly to disable an
easy roaming ability.

This has already been said, but I just wanted to show my support as a
user and as the author of an article[1] (which actually was an
enhanced translation from french) about this setup.

I think the main concern of the wpa_supplicant maintainers is that the
initscript conflicts with tools such as network-manager. I need some
more time to perhaps propose something about how they could live together in
Debian.

But, in my view, there definitely is something better to do than the
current configuration scheme with the action script.

Cheers,

Alexandre
