since the last upload, it should work again on Wext driver backend.
Could you please provide your configuration file, and the perhaps debug
log of wpasupplicant?

I've tested static WEP on madwifi-old and ipw2100, Kel has reported it
would work with madwifi-ng/Wext as well. How the situation is on other
driver backends, I honestly don't know. Perhaps we can collect this
information on the wiki..
