After the last update for my laptop I was very suprised almost nothing
broke, not even Xorg. But after a reboot the wifi connection was gone
(well, not quite. Turned out I was using one of my neighbours AP's ;-)).
Happy that now I had some work to do to fix it (why else would one use
sid) I started to look around to see what has changed. In my opinion:
- the changes were properly announced (in my view) in NEWS.Debian
- the underlying thoughts about ifupdown controlling wpasupplicant ea
are good
- the "action" scripts are not (I like the mapping idea together with
guessnet witch works from /e/n/i as wpasupplicant is now)
I was wondering what others thought about the new approuch so I stumbled
across this list and noticed that the maintainers are willing to listen
and change the package to accomodate most users, like splitting the
package to create a better roaming solution.
But I did find it annoying a few people on the list have a less then
constructive approach to motivate the maintainers to find a better
solution. The comments on the wiki page or demanding a 'mea culpa' from
the developers for screwing up their config before contributing are both
examples of overreacting to a pretty minor issue. As is opening bug
report after bug report (with inappropriate severeties) to adress the same
issue.
So a bit more respect for all the work that's being done, please.
Sorry for not making a more 'substantial' contribution but I would like
the maintainers to know their work is very much appreciated.
