Aha. That's an interesting fact.  You can however try to play a bit with
the 'ap-scan' and 'scan-ssid' parameters. This behavior is pretty driver
dependent.

It seems to me that we cannot do much else than documenting this fact in
the wpasupplicant package documentation. Do you agree here?
