wpasupplicant 0.7.3-6 has been fixed a couple of days ago and is 
awaiting sponsoring (needs sourceful changes besides adapting the 
build-dependencies).

(note, iw 3.2-1 has been uploaded yesterday)

mmind told me yesterday that he'd get around to looking at 
wpasupplicant/ hostapd in the new year, unless anyone would get around 
to it earlier. So if you're interested, you'd be very welcome to 
sponsor it instead.
