Why do you phrase that question here?

I wholeheartedly agree with Reinhard that it is more appropriately 
handled *upstream*.

 From a Debian packaging perspektive, it makes most sense to use nx 
sources until perhaps maybe some day in the (possibly near!) future a 
new upstream or a fork more interesting for Debian to track emerges.

No, we (as in "us Debian package maintainers") should *not* think, just 
follow: Upstream provide us source, and we package according to that 
source.

We might - if upstream is very annoying and release their code in a 
grouping unsuitable to us, repackage for our redistribution.  And if we 
do so, it makes very good sense to try convince upstream to change their 
release style to minimize our work.


Therefore: I strongly recommend to discuss both forking/takeover of nx 
code and grouping of sources upstream _at_ _the_ _x2go_ _devel_ _list_!
