What I miss is the history of previous Debian packaging, including 
pristine-tar metadata for tarballs previously released into Debian.

Also, I would prefer to not clutter the main Debian branches with 
Ubuntu-specific history.

Sorry if we've already discussed this - what is the benefits of using 
those gits of yours, Reinhard?
