Maybe you should research on the context how nxproxy originated. It was developed by NoMachine together with nx-X11 and nxagent. Nx-X11 is indeed a very old X.org fork (6.9ish).

Several remote desktop projects are currently assembling man power to start a rebasing of NX technology against latest X.org (and get it upstreamed).

It would be great to have such a skillfull man like you a member of this assembling task force.
