Note that we can call the Debian package as we prefer, without forcing
the upstream authors to change anything.
It's however true that we should ask them if they agree with our
decision; I would mind if someone changes the name of my beloved 
software in something I don't like.

You can find a lot of other similar threads (flames) browsing the

What others think about this?

We can always try to submit the ITP, CCing debian-devel, and waiting for
flames. If we don't get flamed, it's ok. :)
