Hello
currently for libxfce4mcs and libxfce4util we have lintian warnings because
the package does
not match the soname according to the library packaging guide
http://www.netfort.gr.jp/~dancer/column/libpkg-guide/libpkg-guide.html#naminglibpkg
Just as below for mcs-client
W:libxfce4mcs-client-2: package-name-doesnt-match-sonames
libxfce4mcs-client2
there are warnings for mcs-manager and util
the recommended way is to use client2 manager2 util1 instead of separating
the letters and the digit
with dash. This approach is to be used when the library name itself ends in
a digit to prevent confusion
as is the case with libxfcegui4-3.
For 4.4 these lib package names will have to be changed because sonames are
bumped upstream:
they will become util-2, mcs-3 and gui-4
I am asking whether along with this naming change should we also fix the
lintian warnings as well.
to have util2, mcs3 and gui-4. It would be nice if these were named more
consistently upstream but this is it.
thanks
Jani
